They may not share her DNA, but the girl’s of Zachary’s House are already firmly planted in the heart of our newest house mother, Anna.

Ma Anna certainly has her hands full with 13 of our youngest girls! She starts her day at 5 AM, organizing a morning devotion for her children. Before breakfast Ma Anna helps them with their assigned chores and then they all head to the dining hall for breakfast. Then she is at the top of her game, making sure each of her girls is dressed and ready for school! While they are at school, Ma Anna helps the kitchen staff with meal preparation and takes turns with the other house parents going to the market to shop. The houseparents also meet to discuss any challenges the children are facing and how to address them.

Before starting her work at Touch A Life this past January, Ma Anna had worked as a Secretary for a Land Commission officer, a nanny, and studied hair dressing in school. As any mother will know, that is the perfect combination of experience for someone who is caring for 13 little girls!

Champions like Ma Anna, and our other amazing housemothers, are the soul of the Touch A Life Care Center – seeing that each child who has been rescued from exploitation has a family to call their own. These mothers have taken on the responsibility of restoring childhoods that were lost. They are truly heroes in the fight to end slavery.

Do you know a mother who is making an impact in their community? We’d love to hear about her and be inspired!
