At the core of their business, Ontarget wants to give back. By using their skills as a digital marketing agency, they strive to help in any way possible. When Terry Oehrke, CEO of Ontarget, heard about Touch A Life’s need for a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, he immediately offered his company’s services free of charge.
With a quickly approaching deadline and a wide range of data, Brian Hickey, Ontarget’s head of Action and Architecture, met with the Touch A Life staff to determine the needed criteria of the new EMR database. Because children are rescued and brought to Touch A Life’s Care Center in Ghana with little or no written medical records, the goal of the new system was to create a digital history of each child’s physical and psychological well-being. Brian also made the user interface a priority, so the system would be easy, and even enjoyable to use. After each check-up or doctor’s assessment, information is entered and stored in the individual child’s profile. The Touch A Life staff in Ghana is currently training to use the new EMR system, and it will also be available to medical volunteers and US-based staff.
Development took roughly two months, with final testing and changes made in January of this year. The system is now fully functional and is compatible across all digital platforms – PC, tablet, and mobile device.
Ontarget was able to complete this project quickly and at a very high standard of quality due to their deep medical database experience, along with their work on another non-profit project, the HIT system for Global Health Innovations. The Touch A Life team is incredibly grateful for Ontarget’s gift, and their heart for the children we serve. After working with Touch A Life, Terry is researching ways to help in the fight against human trafficking in his local community.
